This past Tuesday, September 13th, the JBFC Theater welcomed students from the Minds in Motion animation program to Pleasantville for our Summer 2016 premiere. Students from all over Westchester county, including the Boys & Girls Club in Mt. Kisco, the Little School in Pleasantville, the Ossining Children's Center in Briarcliff, the PEAK Center in Mt. Vernon, and the Day Spring Neighborhood Center in Yonkers, were given the chance to see their films on the big screen after working hard all summer on their creations.
We even had a special guest speaker, Westchester County Legislator Margaret Cunzio from District 3. Our student animators were regaled with the inspiring story of Legislator Cunzio's brother, who worked hard to forge his own path in the film world and eventually took home a Golden Globe for his work on the film American Hustle (2013).
Featured here on our website is Practice Makes Perfect, a film created by three students, Justin, Andre and Gerell, during their summer Minds in Motion program at the Theodore D. Young Community Center in White Plains. We invite you to enjoy this film as a representative sample of the amazing work produced by our student animators.
"The program was a huge success this summer! The kids really enjoyed it. We had a few kids whose attendance increased because they did not want to miss it."
Ray, Site Coordinator - The Little School
