We at the Burns could not be more excited for the fall semester of our ever-popular afterschool film club for middle schoolers, Cinemania! Beginning on September 27th, the fall semester of Cinemania will run for twelve weeks, marking a change in scheduling as the program shifts from three ten-week sessions to two twelve-week semesters for the coming year.
In Cinemania, students in Grades 7—8 gather weekly to watch films from around the world, make new friends from schools throughout Westchester, and begin to think like film critics as they learn to analyze and read cinematic texts. Students not only enjoy popcorn and drinks at each meeting, but also get the occasional chance to view films at the JBFC Theater for FREE when they write reviews for our Cinemania Student Critic program.
The full film slate for the fall semester of Cinemania is available HERE. Check it out to get a taste of the course's film programming, and feel free to explore film slates from past semesters, too—no two semesters are the same! You can also read a few of our most recent Cinemania Student Critic reviews HERE, HERE, and HERE.
Cinemania accepts registration both on an individual basis through our Courses @ the Lab website, and for school groups with five or more students. If you are a parent or child, simply register through our website. For more information on how to register a school group, please visit our School Programs website, or contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Educators interested in registering a group of students are encouraged to contact us as soon as possible, as spaces in the course are filling up!
