Spring 2017 Volunteer Trainings

By Paige Grand Pré, Education Communications Associate 01.06.17

The JBFC Education Department is pleased to announce the training dates for our Spring 2017 volunteer programs! The volunteer trainings will take place as follows:

See Hear Feel Film - Friday, January 20, 2017 from 10:00 am-12:00 pm.

Minds in Motion - Friday, January 27, 2017 from 10:00 am-12:00 pm.

Our 4th grade stop-motion animation program, Minds in Motion, requires a semester-long weekly commitment. If interested, you would be able to start with Minds in Motion this coming spring semester and assist students in two-hour blocks once a week in their classrooms throughout Westchester. To learn more about our Minds in Motion program, you can visit our website HERE.

Our 3rd grade media literacy program, See Hear Feel Film (SHFF), offers a more flexible volunteer commitment than Minds in Motion, but is equally as engaged with the students. See Hear Feel Film is the largest and oldest education program at the JBFC. Our SHFF volunteers come into the JBFC Media Arts Lab for two-hour-long classes on Tuesday-Thursday mornings (9:30-11:30am) and afternoons (12-2pm), and you can choose to volunteer with as many classes as you want—there is no minimum time commitment. Some of our volunteers come twice a day, some come once a day, some come once a week, and some once a month—it is entirely up to you. If you are interested in volunteering with See Hear Feel Film, you are able to start up this spring after attending a formal training session. To learn more about See Hear Feel Film, you can visit our website HERE.

All trainings will take place at the JBFC Media Arts Lab, located at 405 Manville Road in Pleasantville, NY. Municipal parking is available throughout the village of Pleasantville.

Please note that all volunteers must complete a volunteer application and attend a training session prior to beginning work as a volunteer. You can access the application HERE and bring it with you to the training, or submit it via email to eduvolunteer@burnsfilmcenter.org in advance to expedite the process.
