JBFC’s Summer Teachers Institute inspires Pre-K – Grade 12 educators to integrate visual texts into their classroom and empower their students to be active viewers, critical thinkers, engaged world citizens, and inspired creators.

REGISTRATION FOR THE 2015 SUMMER TEACHERS INSTITUTE IS CLOSED.

The 2015 Summer Teachers Institute offers a multi-disciplinary experience to serve educators at every grade level and experience, and across subject area. The offerings will provide curriculum, strategies and project-based learning resources for English Language Arts, Social Studies, Media Art, and Science. The sessions will feature JBFC’s stellar international faculty, as well as special guest keynote speakers and film screenings. Sessions for 2015 include Early Literacy: Family Stories (PK-2); The Joy of Writing: See Hear Feel Film (Grade 3); Digital Storytelling (Grades 5-8); Race and Representation (Grades 5-12); Reel Change (Grades 5-8); Focus on Nature (PK-8); Cinemania (Grades 7-12); and Image, Sound, and Story (Grades 5-10). The Summer Teachers Institute will run July 20-24, 2015, 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for a total of 30 hours/2 credits. Offerings will be held across the JBFC campus, at the Media Arts Lab and JBFC Theater.

$600.00 / $540.00 JBFC Members, Family Level and above
Non-members will be charged a $20.00 registration fee.

Scholarships are available for those demonstrating financial need.
