Focus on Nature Pre-K — Grade 12

Focus on Nature combines STEM instruction and media production for Pre-K — Grade 12 learners. Embracing film programming, professional development, curriculum, and community partnerships, Focus on Nature integrates units of study such as ecosystems, life cycles, habitats, and wildlife with dynamic media projects. The curriculum emphasizes collaboration, fieldwork, inquiry, and project-based learning. Academy Award–nominated filmmakers Andrew Young and Susan Todd (from Archipelago Films) are our partners in this initiative, as they work on their feature-length documentary Pondemonium.

Focus on Nature projects employ a wide variety of media for expressing science content:

• Stop-motion animation
• Observational documentary
• Narrative re-creation
• Time-lapse photography
• Visual timelines
• Digital storytelling
